Why a Trump Win Won’t Help Putin

Donald Trump is clearly the prime candidate for Vladimir Putin and many Russians. It seems to be their expectation that once Trump wins, aid to Ukraine will stop and Russia will be able to win the war.

Putin and his inner circle have worked very hard to infiltrate American politics to ensure that Trump has the best chance at winning. Russian misinformation campaigns often target conservative communities, where the false information spreads quickly. Even conservative politicians like Marjorie Green have been caught openly sharing false Russian propaganda time and time again.

Putin however may be delusional if he thinks that appealing to the Republican Party will be able to save him. One of Putin’s big problems is he needs China’s backing if he wants to succeed in creating an authoritarian order in Europe. It won’t help Putin to become an enemy of China when China is much more powerful than Russia, and right next to him.

While Trump and certain Republicans may be willing to ignore Russian war crimes, most conservatives are fully aware of the threat of China. Conservatives have been behind the push to ban TikTok…
